Carson Preston has been deeply involved in the sport of hockey for as long as he can remember. Growing up on the ice alongside his father, Tim Preston, Carson developed a passion for the game at an early age. From competing at a high level as a player to coaching and mentoring today’s youth, Carson brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the sport.
Carson is currently a coach in the HPL, leading the 2016 Bandits HC with dedication and expertise. He has served as a Head Coach with BC Lightning for over five years, during which he has honed his skills by learning from his mentors and coaches along the way. Known for his commitment to helping athletes reach their full potential, Carson strives daily to be the best version of himself while pushing his players to do the same.
Carson’s coaching philosophy emphasizes not only the importance of being a skilled hockey player but also being a great person. He is passionate about guiding the next generation of players to achieve their goals, on and off the ice, inspiring them to grow both as athletes and individuals.
Carson’s extensive hockey experience as a player includes competing in the CSSHL with Delta Hockey Academy, the PJHL with the Aldergrove Kodiaks, and the BCHL with the Merritt Centennials. These opportunities provided Carson with firsthand insight into the challenges and triumphs players face throughout their careers.
This background allows him to coach with empathy and understanding, making him a “players’ coach.” Carson is adept at helping his athletes navigate the ups and downs of the game, teaching them to handle both victory and adversity with resilience and grace.
Carson aspires to be a high-level coach who makes a meaningful impact on his athletes, both on the ice and off. Driven by his genuine love for the game, he focuses on creating a positive and supportive environment where players can thrive.
